Republic Day Celebration in S.D Public School, Pitampura

68th Republic day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor in the school premises on 24th January 2017. The chief guest Shri Shiv Charan Goel,MLA, Moti Nagar, New Delhi unfurled the tricolor to mark the grand occasion. Shri Krishan Lal Bansal, chairman of the school and many eminent dignitaries graced the event. Mr Fernando who hail from Thailand, an executive coach working for International plan empowering margianalised children & youth in Asian Region was also present in the event. The Principal Ms Anita Sharma welcomed the guests and highlighted he glorious achievements of the school in all spheres of academics, science and sports. Deepanshu Jindal brought laurels to the school by bagging first position in IIT JEE mains Exam and got admission in prestigious IIT Delhi. Radhika Gulati, the sprint queen of the school was adjudged the best athlete of Delhi state CBSE National Athletics Championships Meet. The cultural extravaganza commenced with march past by junior students showcasing the unity in diversity , spreading message of brother hood and National integration. Melodious Orchestra and harmonious band presented by students was phenomenal. A fusion dance depicting myriad culture of different states and its famous personalities enthralled the audience. The chief guest applauded the remarkable performance of the students and urged the students to aim high and follow the path of truth and honesty as hardwork and determination are the keys to be successful in life. The chairman of the school presented vote of thanks to the guests and appreciated the students for their stupendous performances. The programme culminated with the echo of National Anthem.

Students of SDPS grabbed a grand opportunity to participate on an International Platform "Maker Fest" at Gujarat, Ahmedabad.

Makers Fest is an informal local event organized by change makers where people gather together and celebrate the contributions of different innovators who have a good social, environmental and economic impact in their local communities. Having said this, it’s a pleasure for us to participate and get acknowledged on this note that we have made a mark in our community on diverse plethora.

The students created an innovative Project” Smart medical Room” through the Robotics lab and displayed it at the event. Their work was appreciated by all. It is a proud moment for us to share with you all that we have received a number of orders for the same.

Along with this we also displayed our hand crafted products by reuse of trash. The innovations and ideas of the students received accolades by all the visitors including foreign nationals as well. It was overwhelming to hear the compliments from them which definitely boosted up the morale of the children. It was an extensive opportunity for our students to get applauded and appreciated on such a platform.


Taking inspiration from “Teacher’s Day” speech of our Honble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, our Principal Mrs. Anita Sharma started a “TODO FODO JODO LAB” in a school and accommodated the same as part of Time table.

“TODO FODO JODO LAB” is a scaled down version of ‘Atal Tinkering Lab’ and was setup with an aim to foster creativity and help students realize their imaginative ideas. This was setup and run by existing faculty members only.

This lab came into existence on 19th APRIL 2016 which coincided with foundation day of our school.

Activities and workshops for this lab have been planned after carrying out exhaustive discussions with the students. , it was highlighted that they would like to ‘tinker’ on their curriculum based theory concepts and understand them by hands-on experiments.

Deepanshu Jindal, the crowning glory of the school got All India Rank-1 in JEE Mains2016 .Deepanshu received Kishore Vigyan Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), a scholarship awarded by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He has also topped BITS Pillani exam this year. He got 53rd rank in IIT JEE Advanced


State level Science exhibition

  1. Our students of class VIII C- Rahul Rathore and Priyanshu Tayal participated in the state level science exhibition held in S.K.V, Vasant Vihar, Delhi and displayed their working model based on ‘Smart ways of waste Management’ for which the students were immensely appreciated by the esteemed judges and the visitors. They also received a cash prize of Rs 250 each.
  2. Deepanshu Jindal of XIIA qualified his round 1 and 2 of KVPY examination (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) in July 2015. In round 1, ten thousand students from all over India appeared and five thousand students were shortlisted for the second round. Out of these five thousand students, finally six hundred have been selected who are entitled to receive grant from UGC as and when they join research programme. In the first week of December 2015, Deepanshu went to Calcutta where he got the chance to interact with eminent scientists, from US and Germany who delivered lectures to them and discussed about their research programme carried out in their labs abroad.
  3. The first round of Techkriti open school championship exam was conducted on October 25, 2015 in which 2500 students from 11 cities participated. Out of which, 1000 students were selected. These students were asked to submit online abstracts in a prescribed format. Abhishek Goyal of Class X-A got second rank from the selected 50 students. He represented the school from entire Delhi State at IIT Kanpur on 10th January, 2016. His abstract and work was immensely appreciated and encouraged by the panel of judges and the research scholars present there.
  4. Ms. Kusum Saroha, PGT ( Physics) participated in a workshop organised by ‘Indian Association of Physics Teachers’ (IAPT) and ‘Quality Education Asia’ ( QEA) to upgrade physics curriculum for senior secondary classes from 28-29 December, 2015 at Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi. Approximately 120 physics teachers from all over Delhi and NCR participated in this event. It was an enriching experience for Ms. Kusum to hear experts of physics from D.U., Dr. Suraj Prakash (Director BBPS training centre), Dr. N.K Sehgal (DU Professor) and Mrs. Pratibha Jolly, Principal of Miranda House, Delhi University.
  5. Ms.Sonia Bobal and Ms. Sneh Ahuja of Science Department attended a two days long interactive workshop on ‘Science Pedagogy-Laboratory learning to classroom ‘ at Acharya Narendra Dev College (D.U) on Jan 20-21, 2016. This involved the participation of 40-45 teachers from various reputed schools of Delhi where they were exposed to the latest tools and technologies used in different experiments and conceptual learning in chemistry and biology labs. These included experiments like preparation of Schiff’s base, separation of mixtures of o-nitrophenol and p-nitrophenol by thin layer chromatography, separation of metal ions by radical paper chromatography, isolation of genomic DNA from plant species, restriction enzyme digestion of given DNA samples. All these experiments can be carried out in the form of investigatory projects in classes XI and XII. One experiment in XI Std. i.e separation of various plant pigments by paper chromatography was carried out by their methodology and good results were observed.
  6. Akshay Singhal and Samarth Varshney of class X-C participated in an Interschool competition ‘Creative Minds’ at Maharaja Agrasen Adarsh Public School, Pitampura on 10-8-2015. They demonstrated chemical chameleon and optical illusion and were awarded 2nd position in the event out of 20 participating schools of Delhi.
  7. ISA Project by British council
    For one of the project (ISA) of British council our faculty and students worked on two projects titled “Science in traditional stories” and “Science behind common beliefs.

    School has been successfully awarded with British Council International School Award for the period 2015-18 for outstanding level of support for nurturing global citizenship and enriching teaching and learning

    In these projects students carried out extensive record work to find out the common beliefs prevalent in our country as well as UK. They interviewed large number of people known or unknown to them and came up with surprisingly large amount of data. Some students analyzed the beliefs of India while some worked on the beliefs of UK. A session of comparative study was held and it enlightened everybody who attended it. Finding logic and valid reason behind them was extremely engaging. All the research work was tabulated and shared online through blogs and facebook to reach wider number of people, which helped the School to win this award.
  8. Our school was awarded MICROSOFT SHOWCASE SCHOOL AWARD. Our school belongs to the global community of schools engaged in digital transformation to improve learning outcomes.
    This involves inclusive experience that lifelong learning ,stimulating development of essential life skills so students are empowered to achieve in life. We emphasized learning with current technology like microsoft office, onenote, skype etc.
    We have also designed and delivered professional development for staff to integrate digital learning . The learning is global and shared using several MS tool and technology for teaching and learning.


  1. Ashish Padhi scored top 1% result in class XII, all over India. He was awarded a certificate of merit by CBSE.
  2. Abhishek, Ashish Padhi, Harshita, Saurabh Malik and Shikhar Jain got selected in NSIT.
  3. The International court of governors of the Afro Asian American Chamber of Commerce Occupational Research and Development felicitated the teachers of ECO Club for promoting greenery and cleanliness.
    This award was presented by Hon’be Shri Tathagata Ray governor of Tripura. Other dignitaries present were HE Mr. Jorge Cardenas Robles Ambassador of Bolivia, HE Mr. Gonehig Ganbold Ambassador of Mongolia, Dr. Greg T Martin President WCPA, The World Parliament , Prof Gregory Berlund CEO, the Plant Earth.


  1. Nokia collaborated with department of education and environment of E awareness in the student of school in Delhi. Eco club of S.D Public School participated heartily and carried out the following activities:-
    1. Movie on recycling of E waste was shown to the students of class 8th and 9th and were motivate for promoting the recycling of old dysfunctional mobile chargers, mouse, keyboard etc.
    2. Circular regarding the above was send to the parents to widen this awareness.
    3. Students made power point presentation on E trail that is journey of old phone and other E waste which are no longer needed into useful decorative and household products
    4. Students of class 8th(all sections) enthusiastically participated in poster making competition held in the school on recycling of E waste.
    5. Students prepared short movie on the status, effect, awareness and consequences of E waste in our country. Children also conducted survey or use of electronic gadgets and how often they are changed in their home and neighborhood.
  2. Deepanshu Jindal of class XI-A secured 8th rank in Delhi in science open merit and 16th rank in national science Olympiad.

    In national astronomy Olympiad 2013 he secured all india 75th rank


  1. Science exhibition was held on 3rd Nov. 2012 in the school premises in which 43 models made by different students for classes 6th to 10th participated. this event was sponsored by Pidilite industries limited and professors from IIT Delhi and Delhi University judged these models and selected two best for participation at state level exhibition.
  2. Our school was one of the 6000 schools of India to get selected for IRIS science fair. Rohan Sharma and Saloni Sharma presented their models at a national platform along with other 110 schools of India on 1st and 2nd Dec. 2012 held in national Bal Bhawan.
  3. Three models titled smart roof house, solar city, and Bio-degradable plastic from our school participated in zonal level science exhibition, conducted by science center no. 1. All 3 were selected for the central level science exhibition, out of which one model made by Lakshay Singhal and Maulik of class 8th were selected for state level science exhibition.
  4. 5 students of class XII Akansha Yadav , Ritu Gupta, Priyanka Gupta, Shubham Jindal & Samiksha Jain from our school having CGPA grade 10 in class X participated in a workshop conducted by IIT Delhi Department of Mathematics in the last week of May. Students were given lectures by eminent scientists and professors of IIT Delhi were taken around the campus.

  1. CBSE National level Science exhibition was organized in our school in which about 180 school, 400 students and 200 teachers from different part of country and overseas participated in National level exhibition. Sh. Kapil sibal then Hon’ble union minister of human Resource development and Sh. Viheet Joshi then chairman of CBSE, addressed the gathering and distributed prizes, to participants and winners.


  1. Samiksha Jain and Shriya Sahni got the opportunity to represent our school in various science exhibitions.We worked on a project on properties of the flower “Tagetes” commonly known as marigold and extracted it to create a mosquito repellent which we named as “Tagmore”.
  2. We were appreciated for our efforts and were able to clear the zonal and center level of cbse science exhibition to reach the state level.It was the very good and a learning experience for us.
  3. Parul Jindal and Shefali Gupta of class XI-A2 was selected for CBSE state level science exhibition held at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Rohini.
  4. Project on “Cancer treatment” participated in CBSE national fair. Out of 200 exhibits from India and Gulf countries.
  5. In zonal level science exhibition organized by directorate of Education students brought following awards for the school

  6. School was a host for CBSE regional level Science exhibition in which about 160 exhibits from all over Delhi participated and show cased their projects.

    1. In CBSE National level science exhibition his model was – multi featured helmet.
    2. His model was also selected in 34th Jawahar Lal Nehru science exhibition held at Pondicherry in December 2008.
    3. He also participated in children 42nd science congress held at Vishakhapatanam in Andhra Pradesh.

Varun Mittal and Kanishka Tiwari participated in ‘International Science Engineering Fair’ held at Indiana polis, USA and bagged the 4th position for their project,” Effects of chinaberry on growing, feeding and development of DBM” amongst 47 countries and brought laurels for the nation. The then President DR. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam honoured the stduents.


  1. School participated in CBSE-INTEL science exhibition organized at Laxman Public school Hauz Khas on 1st and 2nd Oct. 2004. In this exhibition more than 125 schools participated with about 180 models, out of these 180 projects a panel of eminent scientists and Professors selected 20 best projects after various rounds of judgment and interviews with the students .Two of our projects were selected. One of them was “To assess malariagenic potential in study area to suggest suitable control method” made by Shreshtha Kanojia and Jyoti Verma of 12A1 and other project titled ”To control insect pest Helicoverpa Armigera by sterile insect technique” were also selected for participation at national level science exhibition. School teacher Sonia Bobal guided the project

    The model titled ”To control insect pest Helicoverpa Armigera by sterile insect technique” participated at national level science exbition in DPS Ghaziabad on 4th and 5th Oct. 2004. In this exhibition almost 100 projects participated from all over India. 12th and 11th class were made to visit this exhibition. It was a great opportunity for those students, as they got number of ideas for making good projects in future.
  2. Our students also made 5 models under various junior level poster, play on junk food and slogan at zonal level competition held on 27 Sept. in Govt. girls Sr. Sec. school, SU Block PitamPura. Out of these 3 models and 1 senior level poster was selected for participation in Distt. level exhibition which was being held from 7 to 9 Oct. in Govt. girl Sr. Sec. school, Shalimar Bagh.

    Play performed on junk food got 2nd position and was appreciated by panel of judges. Quiz got 2nd position out of 26 leading schools. Number of interschool competitions were also organized in our school in last few weeks.
  3. Science exhibition was organized in the year 2003 as well as 2004 in the school premises. Every week plays and quizzes are conducted in the morning assembly, students are also made aware of various sciences related facts.

    Every Friday was observed as science awareness day. 11A1 performed a play on topic”science and technology” in the school morning assembly on 2nd August, which was enjoyed by all the students.
  4. Two models “conservation of energy” and “sterile insect technique” and a poster on “water and health” were selected for state level competition held on 6th and 7th Nov. 2004 in Sarvodya Sr. Sec. school Rohini Sector-9.
  5. Two projects “Malariogenic sterilification” and “strile insect technique” were selected by CBSE – Intel for participation at Anna University Chennai on 11th and 12th Dec. 2004.
